I haven’t posted here since early May, just after our lacrosse season ended. At first, I just needed some time to process that journey. It had been a great ride, full of emotions, both good and not so good. But after a couple of weeks, I became pretty busy with summer activity. I went to a Bachelor Party (golf and a Mets game), two weddings (both great events, where the grooms were terrific young men, who I had the good fortune to have coached in the past), went to Rochester twice, visited our Condo two times, and I have been playing a good amount of golf (at least once a week, since early June). So, why haven’t I blogged about any of that? There was lots of good content. I guess, it felt like, it all kind of paled in comparison to the highs and lows of our season. It did not seem as blog worthy.
At the end of the season, I had told myself that I would take a couple of weeks to consider whether I wanted to return to Molloy, next season (if they even wanted me). But within a few days, I knew that I wanted to coach again. I began looking ahead, pondering our prospects for the 2023/24 campaign. Yes, it is a big commitment and it limits the number of times I will be able to go snowboarding, but I thoroughly enjoyed coaching at Molloy last season, and am really looking forward to this season.
I met with Coach Pepe, yesterday to discuss the upcoming season. It felt great to be on campus, talking about our team. So, with Labor Day Weekend approaching, and we begin to make that turn from summer to autumn, I have been increasingly anticipating the beginning of Fall Ball! I am looking forward to being back out on the field with the team, catching up with the returning players and getting to know the new players. I am eager for us to begin working toward our goals. One of the things I have come to relish, is that sense of renewal that comes with all of the promise and excitement of a new season!
