Satisfaction?

We watched film Monday, before heading out to what was a somewhat, lackluster practice. I think we were all a bit slow to rebound from our trip to Rochester last weekend, which was understandable, all things considered. Tuesday’s practice was definitely better, though not exactly what you would like to see, the day before a game. At least it was a very nice day!

Beautiful Weather for Tuesday’s Practice.

Yesterday (Wednesday), was game day and by game time the weather was windy and rainy, though there appeared to be clear skies on the horizon, to our west. As the Lady Lions took the field, in a Non-Conference Game, against the Tigers of Holy Family University, I could not help being a bit nervous. I was concerned that we would once again, underperform against, what, on paper, appeared to be a weaker opponent. But the Lions came out of the gate, roaring, scoring early and often! By the end of the first quarter, we had built a 7 – 1 lead, which by halftime had grown to 11 – 3. Molloy was able to keep the pressure on the visiting Tigers in the second half, as the Lions cruised to a convincing 18 – 6 home victory! We had nine different players score goals, on the day!

The Lions Cruise to Victory!

This felt like a much needed, win. We never let the Tigers get close and for the first time this season, we were able to dominate throughout the entire game. As nice as it was to have a game like that, it left me feeling less than fully satisfied, somehow. There were many instances when we got away with making mistakes, only because Holy Family was unable to capitalize. Despite the dominance, we were sloppy and inefficient at times. While, there were obviously many positives to take from this performance, there were also a number of areas that we will need to be better in, if we are going to be successful against tougher opponents. In many ways, it has been a difficult season thus far, and at this point we will take a victory, pretty much any way we can get one. But, we should not let the lopsided score, make us think we played better than we actually did. Believe me, I am happy that we won, I just don’t think we should be totally satisfied with our performance.

Next up, the University of District of Columbia Firebirds on Saturday!

GO LIONS!
