Greece!

Part II – Milos

After two full days, in Athens, we were up early on Friday (5/30), for our taxi down to the Port of Piraeus, where we got on our High Speed Ferry to the small island of Milos, located about three and a half hours, south and a bit east, of Athens. The ride was extremely comfortable and time passed pleasantly, since there were several stops along the way, and the scenery was beautiful. As we disembarked the ship, we caught our first look at Milos. It was everything you would expect and hope for, from a small Greek Island – bright, white buildings, narrow, winding and hilly, cobblestone streets and of course, the stunning green blue sea, all around. The port town of Adames is so small, they do not even have addresses! Our Air BnB Host, provided us with a map, which allowed us to find our new base.

We had some delicious food in Athens, but the food on Milos was on another level.

Our apartment was a beautifully appointed two bedroom, a short walk from the center of Adames, with really nice views from the balcony and an even shorter walk to the local beach.

We rented a car, while on Milos, which allowed us to explore some of the other places on the island. Two of our favorites were the small fishing village of Mandrakia, and Sarakiniko Beach, both to the north of Adames, both stunningly beautiful.

We spent three full days in Milos and loved every minute. I felt like we could spend another week there, at least. But, we had to be off to our next stop, Santorini.
