A Tough Act To Follow

It has been three months since I last posted here. After Greece, we traveled to Rochester to work at the Nazareth Golden Flyer Lacrosse Camp (it is great to work for your child!). Then, it was a good amount of golf and several trips up to the Adirondacks, for hiking, more golf and rail biking (if you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend it!).

The view from the Summit of Moxham Mountain, in the Adirondacks!

So it was a great summer. But, summer is over now. Which means it is time to get back to real life, or at least what passes as real life, for me. That’s right. A new season of Molloy University Women’s Lacrosse, the 2025/26 version!

Actually, we have been back at it for a week already. Practices during Fall Ball, are an early morning affair. It has been a bit of an adjustment, being up early enough to get to the field for a 6am start! But, I think we are all settling in nicely.

So, as we begin the Lions’ fourth campaign under Coach Pepe, the big question is how do we replace the nine seniors who graduated from last year’s Conference Championship Team? The memory of the magical ending to last season, still lingers. But it is just that, now. A memory. Will this year’s team be able to grow into the kind of squad that can measure up to the standard set by the 2025 Lions?

All of that remains to be seen, and will play out in the months to come. We have seen real growth in the first week, already. Returning players have put in hard work during the off season, and are hopefully, ready to take on new roles, this year. The incoming freshman class, has shown promise and demonstrated an excellent work ethic, already. So, as we embark on another season, it is exciting to consider the possibilities. There is a whole lot of work to be done, between now and May. How good can this team become? I hope you will come along for the this year’s journey, and find out!

Off to a Good Start!
