Championship Rings!

After our Play Day at Dominican, we watched film but did not practice during the following week. I think it was a welcomed break for the team, as the Grind of Fall Ball, had taken its toll. As part of the respite, we gathered for some Halloween fun in the parking lot of our practice field. I was impressed with the effort that went into the costumes and with the hidden talents of the players.

We got back to practice on Tuesday this week, but with bulk of our Fall Program, behind us, it felt as though we were not fully focused and I fear we were less productive than we would like. Yesterday, was significantly colder in the morning and practice was sluggish at the start, but improved as it went on.

A Chilly Morning Practice!

With only two practices per week, now, I had more time on my hands during the week. Normally, I would be trying to get some golf in, but I hurt my back a little on Monday, when I lifted an Air Conditioner in preparation for a Special Garbage Pick Up on Wednesday. So, I did a lot of reading and some walking, instead of golf.

Wednesday was a big day, for me. That special garbage pick up, I mentioned earlier, included the Everlast Heavy Bag, which I bought back when I was 17 years old! It has been a staple of my fitness routine for pretty much my whole adult life. It has served me well, to say the least! But, last year I replaced it with a new one, that is filled with water and is easier on the hands. So, Wednesday was time to say goodbye, and it wasn’t easy (and now part of me regrets it!).

A Sad Day!

Last night, was a special one! Last season’s Championship Team were together again, one more time. We assembled at Mitchel Field, to receive our Championship Rings at Halftime of the Molloy vs. UPenn, Sprint Football Game (Sprint Football has a 178lb. Weight Limit). It was great to see the recently graduated seniors, from last year’s squad, especially for such a happy occasion.

The 2025 ECC Champs!

The ceremony was brief, but very nice! I was taken by how excited everyone, was about it. It was great to rekindle all those good vibes from that historic day, last May, on the banks of the Hudson River in Dobbs Ferry (where Mercy is). I am not a jewelry person, and it is unlikely that I will ever wear the ring. But I think I might find a nice way to display it, as a symbol of what we were able to accomplish last season!

Where will I put it?

Now, that we have our rings, it is time to turn the page and fully focus on the season ahead of us. Everyone from this year’s team was there last night, too. There should be no need for further motivation.

Go Lions!
