Quick Turnaround

I am back in Erie.  Despite the 15 plus hours of driving, that brought me home and now back again, it feels like I never left.  But, I did leave.  Wednesday morning I bolted for Long Island, hoping to arrive in time for the 3:30 home game against the Mount St. Vincent Dolphins. After enduring some horrific traffic at the end of the trip, I did get there in time to take part in at least some of the Pre-game warmups.  The game began as a defensive battle and was tied 3-3 at the half.  After that, it was pretty much all Dolphins, in what was a disappointing loss for the OW Panthers.  Head Coach, Erin Collins has done a fine job at Mount St. Vincent, as they are much improved.  There were times when we played hard and executed well.  We just were not able to do both, consistently enough.

When I finally arrived home, I was pretty exhausted, and fell asleep early.  I had a host of errands to do yesterday (Thursday).  I made the 20 minute drive to Georgio’s Coffee in Melville, to replenish my supply of the best coffee I know of – which is roasted on the premises.  I picked up 2 dozen fresh bagels from Heavenly Bagels in Levittown (all bagged up for the trip to Erie).  I also made it to Lowes for Root Destroyer and a new Trimmer.  I had a good garage workout in the afternoon, and then began packing and preparing for the big 3 day trip to Erie!

Why 3 days?  Tomorrow is Senior Day, as the Lakers host the East Stroudsburg Warriors in a huge PSAC tilt.  Sunday, is Easter, and we are celebrating it with Diana and friends at her apartment.  We won’t head back to Long Island until Monday.  Debi, Karl and I left the house promptly at 6am this morning and arrived in Erie around 1pm.  Traffic was lighter than normal, due to it being Good Friday.  The ride seemed to go by quicker today, as my riders made good conversation.

Lake Erie, from our Hotel Room – not great visibility today!

Most of this season, I have written one blog entry to cover the game and its related activities.  But this weekend is going to be packed, so I thought I would get a head start.  WhatsApp was blowing up on the way up here, and there are lots of Senior Day things planned.  I am really looking forward to this game, but not so, the emotions,  which will surely get the best of me tomorrow!  Go Lakers!
