A Double Dose of Lacrosse

We had a decent week of practice, despite the chaos caused by Caldwell cancelling our game, that was scheduled for Saturday. Thankfully, we were able to re-schedule our Wednesday game versus Saint Thomas Aquinas (STAC), making that our Senior Day game, on Friday night. It wasn’t easy, but all of the Seniors’ parents, were able to be there.

Senior Day came off beautifully, and the Lions delivered a dominating performance, getting the game into running time (a ten goal lead) in the first quarter, en route to a 17 – 8 victory! Everyone got to play and we had nine different players score goals! It was a nice way to send off our four Seniors. They have all had a great impact on Molloy Women’s Lacrosse, and will be missed!

So we had off on Saturday, which allowed me to head up to Oneonta to catch Nazareth play at Hartwick, in their regular season finale. It was the first time I was able to see Diana as Head Coach, in person. The game was important for playoff seedings and both teams competed extremely hard, all game. And what a game it was! Neither team led by more than two goals, and the game was tied six separate times, including 10 – 10 at the end of regulation. Both teams had chances in the Overtime period. In the final 25 seconds, Naz got a save, and was able to advance the ball all the way downfield for a buzzer beating, game winning Overtime Goal!

A Thrilling Win for the Golden Flyers!

It was definitely worth the seven hours of driving! I was so happy for Diana and her team. It was a very gutsy performance and I know she is very proud of them. And I, of course am very proud of her!

So both of our teams are feeling some MOJO and riding pretty high, as we head into post season play! Both teams will be on the road. Naz plays at Utica on Wednesday and we play at Roberts Wesleyan on Thursday!

Let’s Go Naz! And Let’s Go Lions!

  1. Bob,

Congratulations! Strong finish to the regular season. The future looks bright with only four seniors graduating. All the best on Thursday against RW.
