Getting that first Victory!

We had a couple of pretty good practices, after a day off following the New Haven game. Leaving Saturday morning’s practice, I felt fairly confident that we would show up the next day, and put forth a strong effort. I was able to stream the Nazareth vs. RIT game (though I could not cast it to the TV) on my phone. It reminded me of our game the previous Saturday at Southern Connecticut, lots of turnovers, in snowy conditions, in a contest that went down to the final seconds! Thankfully, Naz was able to come away with a hard fought 13 – 12 win, on the road – their first win of the season. I saw that as a good omen for our game the next day!

A Big Win for The Golden Flyers!

Yesterday (Sunday) I felt the “gameday energy” from the moment I got up. I treated myself to “gameday breakfast” from Heavenly Bagels, where the lax odyssey blog began! The weather was beautiful, by game time it would be in the mid fifties and sunny, perfect for lacrosse. Anxious to get under way, I left early and arrived early at the field.

A great way to start the day!

There was a nice little crowd in the stands, by the time the game began, adding to the excitement. The Lions came out strong, scoring early and often, and never looked back. The outcome was never in doubt, as our opponents, The Storm of Lake Erie College, were not a very strong team and were overmatched, though they played hard from start to finish. In a game like that, it is tough to gauge your team’s performance. Be that as it may, it was nice to get comfortably ahead early, a good opportunity to get everyone into the game. The final score was 17 – 2.

The Seaford Lady Vikings played during halftime.

After the game, I lingered at the tailgate party. Once again there was an abundance of delicious food but this time it was accompanied by those happy vibes that only show up after a victory!

Happy Vibes at this Tailgate Party!

I drove home with the windows down and the sunroof open, reflecting on the game. I think we all know not to put too much importance on this one. Overall I was pleased with our effort and attention to detail. We tried hard to play up to the standard we have set for ourselves. To become the kind of team we want to be, we will need to be doing that consistently.

Or next game is against Davis and Elkins on Wednesday night at home. Let’s Go Lions!
